computational design + robotic fabrication

From architecture, to landscape furniture, to interiors and products, we cover a wide area of expertise in standard, parametric, and computational design and analysis.

We provide concept, visualization, animation as well as development of existing concepts. Our workflow allows us to plug into one or more of the processes seamlessly and efficiently.

Our consultancy and R&D services are based out of Germany and available to you around the world.
Our design workflow is often integrated into our fabrication setup; however, we welcome your designs to be rationalized and provide solutions for traditional, digital, and robotic fabrication. We are material agnostic and take every new opportunity of growth.

We provide solutions for our own as well as existing designs, and customize them to the needed materials, industrial processes, and code requirements. Once we integrate your design model, our software workflow integrates your files as to make adjustments and changes semi or fully automated, and therefore save redundant processes, costs, time and coordination.

We are happy to work with both ends of the chain: designers/architects/ artist and fabricators/contractors.
Our fabrication experience covers state-of-the-art equipment for additive, subtractive, cutting, as well as welding and assembly processes. We help manufacture your projects with our industry partners or your own suggested suppliers.

Whether or not you consult with us for your fabrication solutions, we handle and manage the realization of your project. We coordinate fully with contractors, sub-contractors, material suppliers, and provide a final product delivered to your site.

We look forward to collaborating with you to bridge the gaps between design, fabrication, automation, and assembly.

PHILOSOPHY

Our experience spans across the spectrum of the descipline of designing and making. Trained as architects and specialized in robotic fabrication and computational design, our mission is to bring design and manufacturing closer with the use of cutting edge software solutions and fabrication tools.

We believe in integrative approaches to design process and fabrication, and believe that traditional and digital are to be used both to better one another.

Whether by computational design, robotic fabrication, collaborative robotic fabrication, or human-robot collaboration, we see the future to be a combination of methods. We approach every project with fresh eyes and always try to justify our choice of materials, machines, and balance them with design and function.

EXPERTISE

Our experience spans across the spectrum of the descipline of designing and making. Trained as architects and specialized in robotic fabrication and computational design, our mission is to bring design and manufacturing closer with the use of cutting edge software solutions and fabrication tools.

We have worked with traditional and digital fabrication processes involving

timber + wood composites | metal | foam | composites | gfrc + gfrp | stone
material + media

Craft: Digital vs Human

Integrated Workflow

We have worked with:
PEOPLE

Our core competency is comprised of the academic and professional experience of our founder  Bahar Al Bahar and the advisory support of Layth Mahdi Al-Attar. With a background in Architecture, both have gained years of extensive experience practicing in the field as architects working with design, planning, management, fabrication coordination and being involved from concept to site work. They both completed their masters specializing in robotic fabrication and computational design, as well as integrative and digital technologies and architectural design research In Germany and the United States. During those years, they took part in research projects, contributed to conferences, gave workshops,  and won awards. They each kept working between research and industry, and today bring all of this under one roof.

Our team is KUKA certified for both industrial and collaborative robotic works.

director
Bahar Al Bahar

MSc. Integrative Technologies and Architectural Design Research, B.Arch
An Architect specializing in computational design and robotic fabrication.
He is an award-winning designer who has worked in the UAE and Germany on several projects in the Architecture, Art, Product and Installation Design fields, where he was also heavily involved with planning, fabrication, and project management. Bahar has completed his master’s of science degree in Integrative Technologies and Architectural Design Research (ITECH) from the University of Stuttgart, Germany.
He has won multiple awards including Young Artist Award 2nd place design category and people’s choice award, and was a finalist in several including the Christo and Jean Claude award in New York University AbuDhabi. During his Master Studies at Stuttgart, Bahar worked in the digital fabrication lab, as he also took one several research assistance jobs involving design and fabrication conceptualization.
He was also a finalist in the KUKA Innovation Awards of Hannover Fair 2018, as part of team CRoW in collaboration with ICD Stuttgart.
Bahar ran several workshops and published two academic papers involving robotic fabrication, computational design, and structures. Bahar’s interest lies in bringing together the digital and the analog, the material and the virtual, to bring out the best of each, while using computation as an integrative approach to design, structural analysis, and fabrication.
